Living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can feel challenging. Over time, repetitive thoughts or behaviors can take a toll on your daily life, relationships, and sense of peace. It is not something you can simply push through, and many people find that traditional treatments do not always bring the relief they are hoping for.
NeuroStar TMS therapy for OCD in Katy offers a different path forward. At AMS Health & Wellness, we focus on helping you regain a sense of control through a supportive and personalized approach that brings together both mind and body. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to target areas of the brain involved in OCD and other mental health conditions. This approach can help reduce symptoms and support better balance in how your brain processes thoughts and behaviors.
Research shows that OCD is associated with patterns of overactivity in certain brain circuits. NeuroStar TMS therapy stimulates those areas of the brain and helps regulate activity, which can lead to a reduction in symptoms over time.
During treatment, we place a small device against your scalp that delivers targeted magnetic pulses, which pass through the skull and reach the brain. You are awake and alert the whole time, and there is no need for anesthesia. Since NeuroStar TMS therapy is drug-free, you do not need to worry about common side effects of medication, making it a helpful option if you have not responded well to other treatments.
At AMS Health & Wellness, NeuroStar TMS treatment for OCD is part of a larger plan that supports the overall well-being of our patients in Katy. Healing is not just about one treatment. It is about combining therapy, lifestyle changes, and support so your mind and body can work together. You are an active part of the process, and we are here to guide you along the way. Our team offers a calm and welcoming environment throughout your treatment journey.
The first step in NeuroStar TMS therapy is a detailed consultation. This helps us understand your symptoms, history, and goals. From there, we create your personalized treatment plan. You will typically come to our office five days a week over several weeks for your TMS sessions to achieve the best results.
During each session, you will sit comfortably in a chair while we position the device on your head. You may feel a light tapping sensation during the treatment, but most people find it very tolerable. After your session of about 20 to 30 minutes, you can go right back to your normal activities.
Consistency is important during this process. As you continue with transcranial magnetic stimulation to help treat OCD in Katy, you may start to notice gradual improvements in how frequently obsessive thoughts occur and how strongly they affect you.
Living with OCD can disrupt your daily life, but you do not have to face it on your own. It is possible to find relief and regain a sense of control. NeuroStar TMS offers a way to address the brain patterns connected to OCD while supporting your overall mental health.
If you are ready to explore TMS therapy for OCD in Katy, our team at AMS Health & Wellness is here for you. We take the time to listen, understand your needs, and guide you toward a plan that fits your life. Call our office today and take the first step to feeling more like yourself again.
